KC Scott

KC Scott has been working in this medium, steel, for his whole adult life. He was first taught by his father Ken Scott, who is generally thought to be the creator of this refined metal wall sculpture movement from the Pacific Northwest.

Now, 35+ years later, there is not much that KC has not seen or cannot do in a metal shop. His colors are achieved by “oxidization” which is basically heating the metal while applying a chemical. This technique, plus burnishing, or a circular grinding, is how his sculptures, especially the ocean/water elements seem to, “dance with light”!

Some time ago, I read on social media one of the more moving posts I have ever read. It was KC talking about overcoming a dependency many persons have struggled with: the “slippery slope” of alcohol use. He spoke poignantly of doing something that he previously thought absolutely impossible, and of the feeling of exaltation and empowerment this had given him! Having seen so many people struggle, this post made me feel really, really good!

Now in his spare time, and to ratchet up the excitement level a little bit, KC has found Dirt Track Racing to be just what the Doctor ordered!
